A Sandusky postal worker took quick action Saturday morning, tackling a man who had jumped through the front counter window in an apparent attempt to get to another worker.

The incident occurred around 10:25 a.m. at the post office at 55 South Morse Street, said Chief of Police Brett Lester.

The 46-year-old Detroit man “jumped over the counter, through the window (and) went after a postal employee at the window,” said Lester.

“Another employee tackled the man and detained him until law enforcement arrived minutes later.”

The two employees are both women.

Sandusky police and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and took the man into custody. Lester said charges would be sought for illegal entry and assault. He added that the postal service is also investigating the incident which could result in federal charges as well.

No one was injured in the incident.
