Mailman charged with lawncare worker’s ‘senseless’ murder in Lithia

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A mailman was charged with murder in a fatal stabbing that happened last week in Lithia.

Mark Calloway, 60, was identified as the postal worker who stabbed a lawncare worker over a parking dispute on Oct. 22.

The men were involved in an argument that turned physical, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Calloway was accused of stabbing Jacob Whitaker, 29, who was later found dead in the roadway.

“I can’t imagine the pain this senseless loss has brought to the victim’s family and loved ones. I sincerely hope this arrest provides them peace of mind and closure as they continue to grieve,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We will not tolerate this type of senseless violence in our community.”

Calloway was charged with second-degree murder with a weapon.
