MONTPELIER, Vt. —
As the United States Postal Service continues searching for a permanent location for the Montpelier Post Office, employees remain working outside.
Earlier this week, USPS employees started making fires in a metal container to stay warm, but now thanks to some good neighbors, they’ve been set up with a consistent heat source in the form of propane heaters.
“We use the post office and noticed that in order for postal employees to stay warm they had an open fire in a trash can,” said Matt Cota, from the Split the Ticket Fund. “We thought this isn’t a great way for the postal employees to be treated, it’s not a great way to keep our government workers warm during this time, its getting colder,” he said.
Bourne Energy supplied the equipment to help out the postal workers, and said once they heard about what was going on, the donation made complete sense.
