Houston man arrested, accused of identity theft and stealing mail in Sugar Land

SUGAR LAND, Texas – A Houston man was arrested after police in Sugar Land said he was found with tools used to break into mailboxes and articles of identity of other people.

Vinh Tran, of Houston, was arrested for identity and mail theft.

Sugar Land Police say around 3 p.m. Wednesday, officers working alongside United States Postal Inspection Service Special Agents spotted a vehicle suspected of being involved in previous mail thefts.

Officers searched the vehicle and found tools used to break into mailboxes alongside stolen articles of identity, such as drivers licenses.

Investigators say they also learned Tran stole mail from people outside of Sugar Land.
