Honoring Veterans – Veterans and the Military on stamps

Since the United States Postal Service® started to issue stamps more than 150 years ago, just about every one of them has also carried a message about our shared heritage and the people and events that have helped build our great nation.

Over the years, many stamps have commemorated veterans and accomplishments by our military, from colonial days to the present. In fact, the first two stamps issued by the Postal Service™ in 1847 honored two military veterans, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. While not all are included, you can see a good number of the stamps the USPS has issued to honor Veterans and the Military below.
