Greene County postal worker faces charges in mail mishandling Investigation

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A Greene County postal worker is facing charges after an investigation.

A special agent with the U.S. Postal Service was contacted just before Christmas after a postal inspector reported possible illegal activity by Winston Williams.

According to the postmaster, Williams had a nearly 42% non-delivery rate on his route on one day in December. Data also showed that Williams bypassed many houses on his route, but there was no backlog of mail to be redelivered.

Shortly after, local supervisors discovered more than 500 pieces of mail in Williams’ personal vehicle. Williams claimed his mail tray broke and said he put the mail in his car to prevent anyone from getting upset with him for bringing mail back from his route.
