Following years of delays, the first batch of Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDV) – designed and built by Oshkosh Defense – are starting to land at various United States Postal Service (USPS) locations, replacing its ages-old fleet of Grumman Long Life Vehicles (LLV).

Thus far, these oddly-shaped machines are winning over mail carriers thanks to their modern conveniences, which the old LLVs lacked entirely, as well as copious amounts of space inside that rather tall cabin so they can stand up with no problem.

These new USPS mail carriers utilize a host of Ford components as well, and now, the NGDV is even getting its own diecast, too.

Interestingly, the NGDV features a large number of Ford-derived parts, as Ford Authority previously reported. That list includes its 2.0L I-4 powerplant, along with transmissions, suspension parts, and various other bits and pieces such as the steering wheel present in models like the Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Escape, and Ford Maverick, along with the familiar rotary dial shifter, windshield wiper stalk, and turn signal stalk. Additionally, the instrument cluster looks just like the one present in a number of vehicles such as the Maverick and Escape, too.
