Postal Service employees pledged more than $2.8 million during the latest Combined Federal Campaign, including the monetary value of more than 2,600 volunteer hours pledged.

The campaign, which wrapped up Jan. 14, garnered more than $493,000 in pledges and volunteer hours from employees at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC.

Among the Postal Service’s four retail and delivery areas, Southern led with more than $815,000 in pledges. Eastern led the two processing regions, with more than $419,000 in pledges, while Atlantic topped the four logistics regions, with pledges of more than $121,000.

By far the most popular form of donation was deduction by paycheck, with $2.7 million pledged via payroll. In a distant second and third were pledges by check, at about $40,000, and credit card, at more than $30,000.

The campaign, also known as the CFC, is the federal government’s annual workplace charity drive. Since its founding in 1961, the campaign has raised more than $8.5 billion.

USPS is regularly one of the top 10 fundraisers in the campaign.
