STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police are investigating a report that an attempt was made to rob a U.S. Postal worker at knifepoint while delivering packages on the North Shore of Staten Island on Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported at about 11:30 a.m. at the post office at 160 Tompkins Avenue in Clifton, according to preliminary information supplied to a spokeswoman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
A group of males all dressed in black clothing approached a postal worker and displayed a knife before fleeing in a BMW sedan that was spotted on Victory Boulevard. No property was removed and no injuries were reported, the police spokeswoman said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation continues, the police spokeswoman said.
