American Postal Workers Union (APWU) President Mark Dimondstein joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed the role members of the APWU played in the 2020 presidential election as voter participation increased during the pandemic.
Dimondstein was one of the three high profile guests for AWF’s Special Labor Day Episode.
The APWU represents more than 200,000 U.S. Postal Service employees and approximately 1,500 employees in the private-sector mail industry.
During the 2020 presidential election, Dimondstein said postal workers provided safe access to the ballot box for over 65 million people, and they did so on a bipartisan basis. He stressed that vote-by-mail works.
He also detailed how postal workers are preparing for the upcoming holiday season, talked about the APWU’s recent organizing campaign to grow its membership and addressed House Resolution 3287, the U.S. Postal Service Shipping Equity Act, which, if passed, would legalize the shipping of alcohol through the postal service.
