Appeals court upholds demotion of postmaster over false delivery scans

A postmaster was demoted when the USPS OIG found that his staff improperly scanned more than 1,000 packages showing them delivered when they hadn’t been.

The USPS OIG investigation discovered that over a thousand packages were falsely scanned as delivered at the Webster facility, but were actually still in the Amason post office.

In response, Mr. Sunny, the Manager of Post Office Operations, suggested a reduction in Amason’s grade and pay due to his improper instructions and misrepresentation of package delivery status, which violated USPS rules.

The court upheld the agency’s demotion of Amason, rejecting their argument of a minor offense.
