White House budget gives OPM $28 million to create the Postal Service Health Benefits program

The White House has outlined a spending plan for the Office of Personnel Management to create a new health insurance marketplace for Postal Service employees.

The Biden administration’s budget plan for fiscal 2024 would give OPM $28 million to create the Postal Service Health Benefits program within the Federal Employee Health Benefits program.

It is a requirement in postal reform legislation signed into law last year. OPM must create the new postal health marketplace in time for an open enrollment period in late 2024. The program would begin operations in January 2025.
