USPS tractor trailer catches fire on I44, “All the mail is destroyed”

PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — Some I44 travelers found themselves stopped on the interstate for hours Thursday near Rolla, Mo. as a tractor-trailer full of USPS Mail caught fire.

Doolittle Fire Protection District responded to 182 MM westbound as the rear wheels caught fire on a tractor trailer. Fire was spreading into the grass.

Tractor trailer fire at the 182 westbound. Westbound Interstate 44 is shut down.”

Trailer was hauling USPS Mail.
