USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to speak in Reno at postal convention

United States Postal Service (USPS) Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is slated to speak at the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association’s convention in Reno this week.

The annual convention is happening at the Peppermill Resort Hotel starting August 27 and running through August 30.

Melissa Ray with the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association confirmed DeJoy would be speaking but said the proceedings at their convention are not open to the public or media. It is unclear what day DeJoy will speak.

On Monday evening, hundreds of rural letter carriers from across the U.S. plan to fill Reno City Plaza to bring attention to what they call an alarming rise in violence against letter carriers. Members say they will demand stronger protections for letter carriers and for Congress to pass the Protect Our Letter Carriers Act. The rally is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
