Mail truck catches on fire following head-on collision

LAUREL, Del. – One person had to be airlifted to a hospital Monday evening after a mail truck collided head-on with another vehicle, then caught on fire.

The crash happened at approximately 5:21 p.m. near Prettyman Avenue and Horner Avenue in Laurel.

The Laurel Fire Department says two bystanders were able to successfully extricate the victim from the mail truck before first responders arrived on scene.

Once fire crews were on scene, they quickly knocked out the blaze.

One person had to be airlifted to Christiana Hospital. There is no word yet on their condition, or the cause of the crash.
