ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — An employee died at a Fulton County USPS distribution center on Wednesday, the postal service confirmed.
The Palmetto Regional Distribution Center employee’s identity is unknown, as is their cause of death.
“Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Due to privacy concerns, the Postal Service does not publicly comment on matters involving its personnel,“ USPS said in a statement. ”We will be providing counseling services to our employees at the Palmetto Regional Distribution Center.”
The mail facility has been plagued with problems ever since it opened in February 2024, with customers reporting package delays and disappearances.
Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff launched an inquiry into the center’s operations, and a July 2025 audit by the USPS Office of Inspector General found multiple serious problems, ranging from safety issues like spills and broken equipment to chronic employee absenteeism and a large backlog of damaged packages.

Ossoff came in hot and heavy, then dropped the ball when the USPS essentially ignored him, which they do to everyone. He vowed to keep up the pressure, but his constituents enjoy some of the worst service in the nation.
