USPS driver injured after crashing into Sharon, Mass., home

A USPS truck driver is injured after they crashed into a home in Sharon, Massachusetts, the town’s fire chief said.

The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Dehart Avenue in Sharon. The truck left the roadway and came to a rest against a nearby home, causing minimal damage.

The driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The fire chief says the driver may have suffered a medical episode.

The owner of the home, Lynda Appel, said she first saw the truck parked at an odd angle before hearing it crash. She said she saw the truck circle back around and hit the corner of her home.

“I saw the gentleman lying on his side between the seats. He was breathing on and off and tried to move his head,” Appel said. “I just waited in the mail truck until emergency services arrived. I just hope he’s OK. I’m guessing there was something wrong because of the way he was parked.

WCVB reached out to USPS for more information, but has not yet heard back.
