On December 31, 2025, at 4:18 PM, the Caldwell Fire and Rescue Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of FM 3058 for a vehicle fire. Caldwell C-1, E-1, E-2, and B-2 arrived on the scene to find a USPS mail van fully engulfed in flames.
Caldwell firefighters engaged the fire and encountered a ruptured fuel tank, which was leaking fuel onto the ground and sustaining the blaze.
B-2 was utilized to tilt the van, allowing firefighters to access the underside of the vehicle and extinguish the burning fuel. No injuries were reported, and we understand that no mail was lost in the incident.
All Caldwell units subsequently returned to service. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
