Around 12:45 p.m., Monday, Feb. 3, Oregon Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of W. Lincoln St. in the Village of Oregon for a disturbance involving an adult male being confrontational with a fully uniformed United States Postal Service mail carrier while he was out delivering mail in the area.
According to a department news release, the suspect took several pieces of mail from the carrier that did not belong to the suspect and yelled profanities at the mail carrier. Officers were able to locate and take the suspect into custody. No one was harmed during the disturbance, nor during the arrest of the suspect.
Later that same day, a warrant was executed at the residence of the suspect. The stolen pieces of mail were recovered, and Oregon police are in the process of working with the local United States Postal Service to return those pieces of mail to the owners.
The suspect, 44, from Oregon, was arrested and tentatively charged with theft, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. The incident remains under investigation.
