Why are there delays at the USPS hub in Indianapolis?

INDIANAPOLIS — After launching an investigation into the delays at the Indianapolis USPS distribution hub, Rep. Jefferson Shreve (R-Indiana) is providing an update on its progress.

13News has reported on the delivery issues the hub has faced for months and has received dozens of calls and emails about packages being stuck at the USPS Regional Processing Center on Indianapolis’ east side.

On Thursday, Shreve said he toured the hub for the first time since the delays were reported by 13News.

“I would describe Indianapolis and the regional package distribution center as being amongst the very first of what the postal service plans for about 60 of these sort of mega distribution centers around the country, and we’re in the unhappy place of sort of being on the front end of this testing of this model, and it just clearly wasn’t ready for prime time,” Shreve said.

third time this center has proven incompetent, first was delay, sending package from indy to fishers when it is supposed to be in mooresville, second was total loss, over 150 bucks, third is re route back to fishers, who knows where its going to end up today.

I live west of Indy, a few weeks ago the postal sent a package I was expecting to Edinburgh twice before sending it to Greencastle! Now I am supposed to receive a small package today, but I won’t because they sent it to Fairland! The USPS doesn’t need more money, they need to fix the problems they have!

It’s now March 2026, and it’s still bad. The snowstorm is no longer a valid excuse, that was six weeks ago.
