WINTER PARK, Fla. —
Some workers at the Winter Park post office say they’re worried about their health and that of customers while a demolition and construction project is underway.
Their principal concern is the handling of asbestos removal.
At the back of the Winter Park Post Office, we saw a worker in yellow clothing removing a plastic bag full of material from the demolition of old flooring in the building, which is more than 60 years old.
Photos were provided to WESH 2 Investigates by postal workers who believe their work area has not been made safe, while the work is going on to remove and replace the flooring that, according to them, includes asbestos.
Some of the photos show signs indicating the presence of the cancer-causing flame retardant that’s no longer used in construction.
