CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) — The second week of testimony in the trial of a Warren father and son accused of killing a letter carrier for the post office is underway in federal court.
Thomas Sledge, 46, and his son Kaprise, 25, are charged with murder of an officer and employee of the United States and use or discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence for the March 2, 2024, shooting death of Jont’e Davis, 33.
Davis, a letter carrier for the Warren post office, was shot and killed about 1:30 p.m. in his mail delivery vehicle on Olive Avenue NE in Warren.
A jury was selected, and opening statements were heard Aug. 21.
The two were indicted in October 2024 by a federal grand jury.
The government has not said what the motive was for Davis’ death, but they did say surveillance video and cell phone evidence were used to charge the Sledges.
