Warren police identify mail carrier killed in shooting

A USPS mail carrier that was shot and killed Saturday afternoon has been identified.

According to a news release from the Warren Police Department, the mail carrier has been identified as 33-year-old Jonte Davis.
Davis was shot while inside his U.S. Postal Van by a suspect in a different vehicle. Life saving measures were taken at the scene of the shooting, on the corner of Scott Street NE and Olive Avenue NE. The shooting happened around 2 p.m.

He was later taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center where he later died as a result of his wounds.

Warren Police, along side the Federal Bureau of Investigations and USPS Postal Inspectors  soon located the suspect’s vehicle at 429 Maryland Ave NE.

With the aid of the Mahoning Valley Crisis Response Team, the agencies conducted a search of the property. Several individuals were taken to the Warren Police Department to be interviewed, according to the news release.
