Ukraine’s postal service recently released a commemorative domestic mail stamp observing the 250th anniversary of America’s founding.
The stamp was announced during a ceremony at the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, DC, by the country’s ambassador to the United States. Its design features the number “250” with the word “freedom” wrapped around it in the colors of the American and Ukrainian flags.
It appears Ukraine is the only other nation to have issued a stamp celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The Postal Service will issue its Declaration of Independence stamp honoring the nation July 4.
The Ukrainian stamp will become part of the National Postal Museum’s international philatelic collection.
