Residents say mail backlog preventing them from getting their mail; USPS claims there are no issues

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Many people have reached out to WLBT 3 On Your Side, expressing concerns about not getting mail.

One of those people who expressed concerns and frustrations was Faye Taylor.

The Jackson resident said this is an issue she’s been dealing with since November.

She makes calls to the post office in downtown Jackson every day, trying to get to the bottom of everything.

“I’m sitting, I’m waiting on certain pieces of mail that I need to see per month, and I’m not seeing them, so it became a question, what is really going on with the mail?” Taylor asked. “I have a brother who lives out of state. I have family members who constantly send mail here. I haven’t even seen that. I haven’t seen some bills that I normally get (mailed) right about now, I haven’t seen them yet.”

She said it all stems from a backlog of mail at the downtown post office in Jackson, and the reason for that backlog is due to the post office being short-staffed.
