LONG BEACH, Calif. — A California man said he opened his mailbox to find a letter from his late parents sent nearly 26 years ago.
Bob Sheppard told ABC7 that the postcard — weathered and from Copenhagen, Denmark — was the only thing in his mailbox.
“I just started looking at it and go, ‘Oh my gosh. This is a treasure!'” he told the outlet.
The letter, postmarked both July 24, 2000, and Aug. 3, 2026, came from Joanne and John Sheppard’s trip to Denmark, which they took more than 26 years ago, ABC News reported.
“Hi – arrived safely about 5:30p. It’s now 8:30p + still very light out. AA136 was late in arriving in London so we had to rush to catch connection. Nice weather now – warm – humid. Flying in we saw lots of water + green green land everywhere, love M + D,” the note read.
