Postal Worker Fatally Shot In Vallejo In Possible Case of Mistaken Identity

A man who was shot Tuesday morning outside his home in Vallejo, while in uniform, has been identified by family and neighbors as a US postal worker.

In what family members are saying may have been a case of mistaken identity, 32-year-old Devaughn McBride was shot and killed Tuesday morning around 8:23 am outside his apartment building on Marin Street in Vallejo. As KTVU reports, McBride, who was recently made a permanent employee at the US Postal Service, was on his morning routine, heading to a corner store for a beverage and snacks, when he was shot by a suspect in a vehicle just outside the gates of the apartment property.

Vallejo police are investigating whether there is any connection between this shooting and one that occurred around 8:03 am, twenty minutes earlier, near Springs Road and Castlewood Drive, in which one person was critically injured.

A friend told KTVU that McBride, whose nickname was Buddha, was a “pretty laid back” guy. “He wasn’t a loud or rambunctious person. He minded his own business. Go to work. Go home,” the friend said.
