The U.S. Postal Service showed off upgrades Wednesday that have been made at the Sorting and Delivery Center in Huntington Station.
The upgrades are part of the organization’s transformation and modernization efforts designed to increase operational precision and improve service performance across the country. The Postal Service said the new designs and equipment would greatly increase the speed at which packages can be delivered.
New delivery vehicles were also unveiled, including models known as Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDVs) and zero-emission electric models that are already in use.
To date, USPS has invested more than $18.9 billion to revitalize the Postal Service’s processing, transportation, and delivery networks.
