Postal carriers pushing for security upgrades after DeKalb worker’s shooting death

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A person of interest is behind bars after a postal worker in DeKalb County was shot and killed.

Dequavious Graves was killed on Thursday in Decatur while on his postal route, and the United States Postal Inspection Service said a suspect was arrested in Atlanta Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, some postal carriers are pushing for changes to make their jobs safer.

“Everybody loved talking with him, dealing with him. We all loved him. Honestly, even management. I heard no complaints ever about Graves,” said Akeiradale Waller, who worked with Graves for three years.

Waller returned to work at the Wesley Chapel post office on Wednesday for the first time since 31-year-old Graves was shot and killed in Decatur on Thursday.
