Postal carrier killed in two-car accident near Holcomb

A postal carrier was killed Saturday when the delivery van she was driving overturned in a two-car accident near Holcomb.

According to witnesses, the accident occurred shortly after noon on Mississippi 7, south of Holcomb. Both vehicles involved, the postal van and an SUV, were traveling northward when they collided.

The postal carrier’s identity could not be immediately determined, although she reportedly worked out of the Grenada office.

The driver and lone passenger in the SUV did not appear to be seriously injured.

Traffic was held up for more than an hour as emergency personnel tended to the scene.
