PA Union Postal Treasurer federally charged for embezzlement, failed documents

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Secretary-Treasurer for the American Postal Workers Union in Altoona has been federally charged after failing to provide accurate documentation to the Secretary of Labor.

Nicole DeStefano, former Secretary-Treasurer, was required to disclose and report all salaries, allowances and disbursements via a Form LM-3 during the “reporting period,” according to court documents. However, from 2020 through 2022, DeStefano allegedly failed to disclose a “material fact” in a report document.

DeStefano is facing three separate charges related to improper documentation from March 2020, April 2021 and June 2022. She is also facing a charge related to embezzlement and theft from November 2019.
