Office of Inspector General now auditing Louisville mail delays, other area branches

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — There’s now an audit over the United States Postal Services’ mail delays in Louisville.

The Office of Inspector General is looking at the efficiency of operations at the Louisville Processing and Distribution Center on Gardiner Lane.

USPS records show the audit started on March 19.

A spokesperson for U.S. Rep. Morgan McGarvey, D-Kentucky, said the office it’s still getting about a dozen calls a week about continued mail delays.

USPS has repeatedly declined requests for an interview with the spokesperson the postmaster and all leadership at USPS.

Video inside the Gardiner Lane facility in January showed bins full of mail as USPS initially blamed the delays on snowy weather. The delays in Louisville stretched on for months, leaving residents frustrated and waiting for deliveries. Some complained about Christmas gifts that came weeks in to 2025, and important mail like prescription medication and bill payments were stuck in limbo.
While USPS said everything is back to normal now, several Louisville residents said they’re still waiting on envelopes and packages that were mailed weeks ago.

Records show there are also audits happening over delivery operations at the Pleasure Ridge Park branch, Middletown branch and Iroquois Station.

There’s no word on when the audits will be finished.
