‘Neither snow nor rain,’ but maybe vandalism stops the mail?

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The United States Postal Service creed says “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”

But one Brazil neighborhood says the USPS couriers have been stopped for some time due to damaged mailboxes they say the organization refuses to fix.

WTWO spoke with a resident and property owner at a local mobile home park, who claimed that he and many of his neighbors have not received their mail for more than a month.

Dennis Turner lives at Lake Brazilian Estates, in Brazil. He said their mail boxes belong to the USPS.

Turner added that for more than 13 years, the USPS has repaired their mailboxes if they became damaged. But now, Turner says with multiple boxes damaged from suspected vandalism, they aren’t getting their mail.

And Turner said USPS refuses to fix them.
