Marlborough Post Office celebrates 124 years of service from five letter-carriers

MARLBOROUGH — U.S. Postal Service workers who reached their 25-year milestones were celebrated. Marlborough Letter-Carriers Mark Rice, Chris Erba, Jessie Liberis, and Tim Patton recently achieved the milestone.

During the presentation, Marlborough Postmaster Nicholas Tselikis spoke to co-workers of the celebrated carriers, saying that they have an “outstanding work ethic and are very well-loved by the public. Twenty-five years is a long time working for an organization.”

Mark Rice, who has worked all 25 years in Marlborough and currently makes 613 deliveries on his route, said, “It’s gone really fast. It’s been a great opportunity. I’ve enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the future.”

Chris Erba has 418 stops a day covering Marlborough.

“It’s been an easy 25 years,” he said.

“It doesn’t seem like 25. It’s an enjoyable job,” said Tim Patton, who has worked all 25 years in Marlborough and has 959 delivery points, a number which includes apartments.

In her 25th year, Liberis delivers to 469 customers on a business route.

Each letter-carrier received a certificate from Boston Postmaster Jim Murphy that read: “The good reputation enjoyed by the Postal Service is based upon the loyal service of people like you, and I am proud to commend you for your contribution.”

The fifth letter-carrier recognized was retiree Dan Fontes, who delivered mail for 24 years, concluding his career with business and residential deliveries.

Fontes said of working outdoors, “I love the freedom.”
