Kansas man accused of aggravated assault on a postal worker

COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a wanted suspect on multiple allegations after an incident at a south-central Kansas beef processing plant.

On May 14, police responded to a report of a suspicious individual at Creekstone Farms, 604 Goff Industrial Park Road in Arkansas City, according to a media release.

Employees told officers a male suspect appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Esphesus Kago of Wichita, was exhibiting unusual behavior.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Kago was in possession of illegal substances. When officers attempted to take Kago into custody, he resisted arrest. Despite this resistance, officers successfully apprehended Kago and transported him to the Cowley County Jail.

Further investigation revealed that Kago had an active warrant issued by the United States Attorney General’s Office for aggravated assault on a postal worker.

Kago remains in custody on requested charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the federal warrant.
