Joe Begley retires from USPS after 36 years

HAMMONTON—Joe Begley from the Hammonton Post Office has officially retired after 36 years of service on June 27. Starting his postal office career in Egg Harbor City in 1989, Begley was transferred to Hammonton in 2014.

For the past 11 years, Begley has been a familiar face at the local post office, where he especially enjoyed interacting with customers and his coworkers whom he will miss dearly. His day to day duties included delivering mail and packages around town. Over the years, he’s witnessed a shift in his services with the rise in package deliveries.

Now stepping into a new chapter, Begley looks forward to spending more quality time with his grandkids, working part time, joining a gym and completing small projects around his home. In October, he will be traveling to Vegas with his family and sisters to visit his brother—and maybe even visit the Grand Canyon.

Begley also hopes to cross off a few sports-related bucket list items including attending a Red Sox game at Fenway Park, experiencing Penn State White Out football game, and cheering on his favorite college team, the University of Notre Dame.
