U.S. Senators Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Gary Peters (D-Mich.) have introduced a bipartisan resolution to support the independence and critical public service mission of the U.S. Postal Service, emphasizing the essential role it has played in connecting and serving Americans, especially in rural communities. Sens. Sullivan and Peters were joined in introducing the resolution by U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.).

Reps. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) and Nick LaLota (R-NY) have introduced a similar resolution (H.Res. 70) in the House that calls on Congress to take all appropriate measures to ensure that the Postal Service remains an independent establishment of the federal government and not subject to privatization.
