The Hamilton City Post Office is once again temporarily closed – unlike a few months ago for renovations, this time due to a fire that broke out around 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23.
Several fire departments from both Butte and Glenn counties responded to the blaze that all but destroyed the facility located at 201 Main St., Hamilton City.
According to U.S.Postal Services authorities, during the temporary closure customers who normally receive their mail from the Hamilton City Post Office can pick up their mail at the Chico Midtown Post Office, at 141 W. Fifth St., Chico, which is open Monday- Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Customers will need to bring proper photo identification for mail and package pickups.
Officials said the Hamilton City Post Office will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
