Georgetown mail carrier retires after 32 years; community gives heartfelt send-off

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — After more than three decades of delivering mail and building relationships, one Georgetown mail carrier is saying goodbye, leaving behind a legacy that neighbors say won’t be forgotten.

Kenneth Holmes, known to many as “Ken” or “Kenny,” is making his final stops along a route he’s served for more than 30 years. He calls the moment bittersweet, and for the community he’s served all this time, the feeling is mutual.

After 32 years with the United States Postal Service in Georgetown County, Holmes is parking his truck for the final time, saying it’s been an honor to serve the community he’s grown with.

“I’m glad I had a positive impact on the community, but I’m looking forward to kicking back,” said Kenneth Holmes, USPS mail carrier.

On Wednesday, that same community lined the streets in the Willabank neighborhood, showing their appreciation as Holmes made his final deliveries.
