Frustrations rise with Conway post office delays sparking attention from Congressman Fry

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Delays at the mailbox are leaving thousands of Conway residents frustrated and looking for answers.

The issue has some residents around the city waiting weeks longer than they should to get their mail. Residents like Paul Greiner said his entire street of Jungle Road hadn’t gotten their mail in more than a week.

“It’s frustrating because nobody there will actually address the problem,” Greiner said. “But, once you’re out of the post office and you try to get ahold of the US Postal Service, that is just a river of paperwork.”

On Thursday, the US Postal Service sent WMBF News a statement, pointing blame over the delay at new mail routes prompted by the city’s recent growth.

However, Greiner believes it also has to do with a lack of staffing.

“I just heard that they laid off 10 postal carriers there. And I’m thinking, you’re laying people off in a growing city, and you got nobody to deliver mail? No wonder nobody’s getting any mail,” Greiner told WMBF News.

For other Conway residents, like Melanie Robinson, it’s stressful to be in with school starting in just two weeks
