LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A former Lancaster County postal union official was sentenced for cashing hundreds of checks and stealing around $74,000 that she used for her own use, the Department of Labor announced.
Susan Miller will spend four years on probation and have to undergo 100 hours of community service after she was sentenced Sept. 15, the DOL said.
In March, Miller pleaded guilty to one count of embezzling labor union assets, one count of falsifying a labor union annual report, and one count of falsifying labor union financial records.
Miller was the treasurer from 2011 through December 2022 of American Postal Workers Union Local 95, which represents more than 300 postal workers in the Lancaster area. She was the union’s principal fiscal officer and was the custodian of Local 95’s finances.
The DOL says Miller signed and cashed at least 137 checks from December 2019 to December 2022. Those checks were worth $68,818. Miller also had a union-issued credit card, which was used for at least 128 personal purchases, totaling $5,441, according to the DOL.
