Fire in postal jeep destroys mail in Sequoyah County, OK

A postal carrier’s vehicle, still carrying mail for more than 200 stops along Route 1 in Sequoyah County, was destroyed by fire Wednesday while the carrier was delivering the mail, according to notices from the U.S. Postal Service sent to residents who may have been affected.

According to the notices, residents living on the route, which includes Central community and the surrounding area, were advised some of their mail was destroyed due to the “extensive” fire damage.
