Dozens of pieces of mail scattered in street Tuesday in downtown St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — Dozens of pieces of mail and broken postal totes were found lying in a street near the Enterprise Center early Tuesday morning, just blocks from the U.S. Postal Service’s main office in downtown St. Louis.

The mail was spotted at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday by KMOX radio host Debbie Monterrey, who said she tried calling police twice to report it at the early hour but got no answer.

A spokesperson for USPS shared the following statement regarding the spill: “We’re making every effort to ensure all mail has been recovered and delivered timely.”

It was unclear how the mail ended up in the street or whether any deliveries were affected.
