NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A federal audit revealed nearly 73% of packages sampled at a Nashville post office were scanned as “delivered” while still sitting at the facility.
Published in an interim report, the bombshell audit detailed a surprise July inspection of Nashville’s Church Street Station by the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General.
The report uncovered a systemic manipulation of real-time tracking data, a lack of management oversight, and a breakdown in operations that left over 5,000 pieces of mail delayed.
Before carriers arrived for work on the morning of Tuesday, July 14, auditors came to the facility to investigate and review operations.
Auditors selected 30 packages at random for review. Although the packages had not left the facility yet, the report stated nearly a dozen had been scanned as delivered and eight others were marked as delivery attempted.
