A little more comfortable: Local man aids overheated delivery drivers with free water

The summer heat has returned here in Arkansas but delivery drivers, first responders, and USPS workers still have to provide their services despite the rising temps.

Between 2015 and 2021, the postal service reported to OSHA more than 150 heat-related incidents and UPS reported 117.

On their commute, Sherwood resident Sean has a refreshing pit stop for them on Corkwood Drive.

“Just to make it a little more comfortable because they don’t have AC in their vehicles,” said Sean. “It kind of grew from there.”

Now Sean is making sure that the cooler is filled with plenty of ice-cold water bottles and said it is not about him, it is the least he can do for those who provide a never-ending service.

“They are out here doing the jobs that we expect,” said Sean. “It is important to keep them not only healthy and safe but also to show our appreciation for what they do.”

He said those that have passed his yard have expressed this was a much-needed refresher.
