Official paperwork was filed in Jennings Circuit Court Feb. 24, 2026, for an incident that took place in June of 2025 regarding a US Postal Worker.
According to the officer’s report, a postal worker was arrested after being called back to the on E. O&M Ave. from his route close to Hayden. A carrier for the government agency, Daniel Blythe, 40, of North Vernon, was arrested for official misconduct by a public servant (level 6 felony) and operating a vehicle with a schedule I or II controlled substance or its metabolite (C-misdemeanor).
In the police officer’s report, Blythe’s soon-to-be ex-wife called the police after stating that she had been to his residence on Brookside Dr. to pick up their children. She stated that Blythe “seemed like” he was under the influence of an illegal drug and that he was “unusually pale, sweaty, and irritable.” She also stated that Blythe lost balance and fell out of his vehicle and nearly hit her parked car when leaving.
The police were called and an officer went to the North Vernon Post Office where he requested that Blythe be called back to the facility from his route. Upon his return, Blythe was subjected to a series of sobriety tests.
The officer reported that the subject “did not keep his head still and was unable to follow the stimulus with his eyes smoothly.” The officer also noted that Blythe’s eyes “did not cross when the pen was brought close to his nose.”
Being given permission from Blythe, a SoToxa test was administered and reportedly Blythe showed a positive result for cannabis and amphetamines.
