ALLEN PARK, Mich. – An Allen Park postal worker was stuck in a machine for hours before firefighters found his body, they said.

The discovery was made Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at a United States Postal Service facility in Allen Park.

Officials said the man’s wife called police to tell them that he hadn’t returned home from work. Firefighters went to the facility and found him stuck in the mail handling machine.

He had been dead for 6-8 hours before firefighters got there, according to authorities.

There is much more to this story than provided above. He (Nicholas John Acker, 1988-2025) was working alone on the third level of the conveyor belt system near the Detroit NDC roof. From what I’ve been told, the conveyor is supposed to be turned off when someone is up there to retrieve stuck mail, but that did not happen in this case for some reason. He got pulled into the conveyors and, to put it bluntly, dismembered. No one noticed him missing by the end of Tour 1 (7:30 am). Another story in the Detroit media says that his wife went to the facility when he did not return home and was stuck outside for three hours before anyone talked to her. We do not have a dedicated safety manager at that plant. I did not know him personally, but I did see him because he was on my tour.
