IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) — A local mail carrier who recently died of cancer was honored with a procession of 15 United State Postal Service vehicles escorted by Iron Mountain Police cars through town.
The police escorted 15 USPS vehicles from the post office to the funeral home to honor 53-year-old Kevin Richtig, a mailman who had been working at the Iron Mountain Post Office for about five years.
Michele Gregorich, the USPS worker who trained Richtig when he was first hired, said she didn’t see a lot of people like him over the years. She said he was always happy and never complained about how hard the word was.
Postmaster Bob Gill coordinated the police escort, Greogorich told My UP News over the phone.
