ORONOCO, Minn. (KTTC) – A semi-trailer traveling on Highway 52 overnight in Oronoco caught on fire.

It happened at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, just north of the 5th Street bridge.

According to the Oronoco Fire Department (OFD), the fire appeared to stem from what looked like the rear brakes on the trailer.

The driver was able to detach the semi from the trailer.

Flames were found on the outside of the trailer and reached the inside, OFD said. Crews used water to put out the fire and cool all contents down. The semi-trailer was carrying United States Postal Service (USPS) mail.

The Minnesota State Patrol shut down Highway 52 for about 20 minutes while firefighters worked on the fire.

The scene was cleared around 3:35 a.m. Wednesday.
