GREEN, Ohio – While Green, Ohio, and 73 other communities across the nation push Congress to pass bipartisan legislation that will give them unique ZIP Codes, the U.S. Postal Service is mounting opposition, warning the changes could create “chaotic service disruptions” and significant financial strain.

The agency is resisting legislation that the U.S. House of Representatives passed in July that would mandate ZIP code assignments for communities that have spent decades struggling with addressing problems. The bill affects 74 communities across 21 states, with Colorado leading the count at 17 communities, followed by Florida with 10 communities, and Wisconsin with eight.
